Hello: I came from the Crystal Enterprise side of things (versions 8.5 and 9), so I have a question about what ZABO is compared to Deski, Webi and Crystal Reports.

This is what I do know: I can create deski, webi, and crystal reports from a universe (I am now in an R2 environment). I am familiar with deski, webi, and crytal reports that can be VIEWED in the CMC and InfoView. I know InfoView is server based and is a portal.

I can alter webi reports through InfoView - cannot alter Crystal Reports, of course, except for changing pre-defined parameters. I am not confused about scheduling any type of reports in InfoView or CMC. I am unsure of being able to alter Deski reports through InfoView - I am a system admin now and not a developer anymore.

I know Crystal Reports and Deski are thick client, Webi is not.

What is ZABO and how does it fit into this picture? Can someone sort this out for me? Thanks.

I believe that ZABO doesn't really fit into the BO XI R2 world - it was part of the earlier versions of BO.

If you can, I HIGHLY recommend that you take the SA210 Administering Users and Content and SA310 Administering Servers classes.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Thank you both for your responses. Dell: My employer will not send me to the classes you mentioned - I've been working in this field for over 5 years. I would still like to know about ZABO. At my work, we are running 4 production environments: 6.5, R1, R2 with SP1, and R2 with SP 3.x

Please tell me about the "old" ZABO. Thanks.

Zero Admin Business Objects (ZABO) is almost identical to Full Client (DeskI), except that ZABO connects through the Webi server.

Unlike DeskI, there is no local connections. All connections are maintained on the WEBi server, including the repository connection.

This of it as WebI on the DESKTOP.

ZABO was depricated prior to XI.
