Hello all
I am trying to understand how a snapshot backup is done and why it would be used (since from my reading, if the drive fails, you cannot recover data from a snapshot backup). I'm Using BE2010R2 sp1.
From what I have read and understand, a snaphot backup only creates pointers to the original data on the disk. If this is so, why does my tape backup take 2-3 hours?
Is BE copying actual files to tape at all when using the AOFO option?
I know, I have spoken to Veritas in the past and their tech recommended use of agents for Exch/SQL backups. He had me uncheck the AOFO option for those. However, for my file server, the backup does have the AOFO checked using MS VSS.
I really would like to understand this
I appreciate anyone that can break it down clearly for me ....and others
thank you
