I am running Groupwise ver 5.5. In a mail message, if I set an expire date on a message, nothing ever happens to it. Shouldn't it delete itself after the expire date passes by?
My guess would be that this feature only applies to unopened messages. Once the user has opened it, it is theirs to control. Similar to how mail cannot be deleted/retracted after the user opens it. Is this happening with unopened messages?
Yes, it finally dawned on me to run a test and not open the email message and today it did "disappear" from my mailbox.
We wanted to use this for a daily newsletter that we send to all of our users, whether or not they open it, for clean-up purposes since the users would not need the newsletter after the day that they receive it. Do you happen to know any Groupwise option that would let us expire the message even if they have opened it?
I don't know of a way this can be done, but I'm not a GroupWise administrator, so I can't say definitively that it's impossible. Perhaps someone who administers a GroupWise system will be able to offer more help. (In my company they can set an autodelete based on message age, but I don't know if it can be done by other properties of a message, such as subject.)
