Good morning from Wisconsin,

I am looking for advice on the available command line encryption programs that will work with Windows XP Pro. I'm leaning towards TrueCrypt for its support of more powerful algorithms, so my plan is to mount a logical TrueCrypt drive on a physical external drive, copy the unencrypted data from the computer using Robocopy, then dismount the TrueCrypt drive, at which point the external hard drive can be removed and taken offsite.

However, I am open to alternatives. Let me know if you have other suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

TrueCrypt is a reliable solution.
It could be wise to store the used version (setup) along with the archive (and the password(s) in a safe place) so you can access the data without the need to download a recent version from the i-net.
