...hi all cissp's/wannabe's

..this is a question and comment...

...i probably already know the answer, but still have to ask.

QUESTION.
according to ISC2 website link you are granted one year for approved certifications. It does not specifically state only 1 year. What i mean is if i have more than one certification from the approved list will that give me more than 1 year credit for experience.
..i would sure like to knock out a couple of years with the approved cert's as opposed to peace milling my security experience over 10 years/10 jobs.

COMMENT
...also disappointed they are not recognizing the CCSP from cisco as an approved cert. the NSA and other government agencies are recognizing it and crediting the owner with title IPSEC professional and cisco security devices are the most used in any network...at least in government networks.. wonder if there is some bad feeling there..
...and before you answer that,,they are recognizing MCSE..
..must be in bed with microsoft.

Dan,

Dig through your resume and fill out the five years of security experience you need. You will be glad you did.

Having passed the CISSP exam, keep up the certification. 40 CPEs per year leads to a lot of learning. Finally, one gets credit for the huge pace of IT learning we all do to keep up.

For technical focused CISSPs, collecting certs after the CISSP is a very nice way to go. The learning needed for the new technical cert will count twice, once for the new cert and once for its InfoSec aspects.

CISSP, MCSE has been a very good combination for me. Advancing computer law, compliance and corporate image has encouraged a lot of company's to look at their IT projects, operations and forensics in business critical functions. Updating all this always can use both the big security story and the core technical details needed to keep sensitive data safe.

Best Wishes on your efforts.
