Expanding Partitions with diskpart - advice needed

I'm considering adding an additional disk (or possibly 2) to our current RAID 5 configuration as we are starting to run low on space. However, after doing that, I'd still need to expand one of the partitions to utilize the addititonal space (not the partition the OS is installed on). I've read that you can do this with diskpart, but I've never heard of anybody doing this. Has anybody tried this before, was it successful and are there any risks of data loss?

Would really appreciate some feedback on this

No experience with Diskpart, but don't forget that you will have to extend your logical volume once you have added the new disk(s) to ensure that the OS can see the new free space. This should be a relatively easy process depending on your hardware.

But above all, make sure you have a valid backup before starting any procedure.
