Greeting..!
Panasonic company say that  kx-ns500 can deal with 288 extension by connecting with telephony system.. Anyone can explain this..? What they mean by that..?

Yes i know and that's expand the total extension to 160, but in this video below
in minute 1.40 they say that the total extemsion can reach to 288 by conmected with telephony system.. So what they mean by this phrase (telephony sys)

Only 288 [roll1]... So few... Why not up to 416 extensions?

Ok, let's see.
Every shelf supports max up to 32 physical extension ports (basic shelf supports up to 34 but it doesn't matter in maximal configuration).
When you use DLC8 or DLC16 cards you can connect Digital Panasonic phones with DXDP feature - up to 2 independent phones at single port (set through set). Theoretically you can connect up to 32 Digital phones at every DLC16 card or up to 16 Digital phones at every DLC8 card. But there is a limitation of Power Supply Unit - maximum 40 "load-units" at the shelf. That's why we can connect maximum 40 devices per shelf.

"Load-unit" is a virtual measuring unit for power consumption.
Every port for analog ext has 1 load-unit consumption.
Every DPT (Panasonic Digital Proprietary Telephone) has 1 load-unit consumption (NOT port, but device!!!).

Shelf capacity example:
1*MCSLC16 card (independently of device connection) - 16 load-units
1*MCSLC8 card (independently of device connection) - 8 load-units
1*DLC8 card - 0 load-units
8*DPTs (connected directly to DLC8 card) - 8*1 = 8 load-units
8*DXDP-DPTs (connected through previous DPTs using DXDP feature) - 8*1 = 8 load-units.
SUM: 16+8+8+8 = 40 load-units and up to 40 devices (24 analog and 16 DPT).

So, we can connect up to 40 devices per shelf => up to 160 devices per 4 shelves. And this is only a legacy part of PBX (classical telephony wired connections).

Also we can connect up to 128 IP-extensions (SIP-phones or IP Proprietary Telephones) - this is an IP-part of PBX.

160+128 = 288 Extensions.

BUT!!! We also have a DECT portable stations capacity - up to 128 PS.

288+128 = 416 Extensions totally.

Dear Ali. Ibra don't be afraid - read Panasonic manuals, they are very informative and useful.
Good luck!!! [smile]

plus 128 IP-extensions.

Totally 288. And DECT...

It’s talking about the max amount of extensions including IP phones (128) and dxdp ports on the digital phones.

If I was selling the system, I wouldn’t count the dxdp ports as they only work a short distance from the back of the master phone and doesn’t always work out to where you want the dxdp phone.

As always Thanks very much Mr. Ired..!! I often feel confused due to alot of manual and file outthere, so i ask a question here to get confirmation about any info that i read, and sometime not actually i really dont know so forgive me.. 🕊️

Replay to Mr. Obtsystems.
Yes that is right..! I try that and found that distance is too short - (depending on the type of cable) - so i think its better to buy DLC card if we have long distance connections.

Mr. Ired from your experience in panasonic why DLC card dont have load unite..? yet the DPT have one..? Why the load unite not in card like SLC card..? Since the communication ditance that supported from DLC card is higher than SLC card..

Sorry, Mr. Tech-sys, but, i think, i didn't understand your question... Perhaps it's because i don't have enough qualification.
I am just installer, not a system engineer or a repair engineer...
