Simple but infuriating! I blame the lurgy I'm currently harbouring for my brain fade...

Is it possible to have the drop down menus in any Office application set to expand automatically upon loading the prog, so I don't have to click that double arrow every f@!*£^! time?

Sorry. I feel rough... it makes me cranky... :-(

Hope you feel better, suggest: |-I

To answer your question:

1. Start any Office program. (NOTE: When you select or clear the Menus show recently used commands first check box, this setting affects all your Office programs).

2. On the Tools menu, click Customize.

3. Click the Options tab.

4. Click to clear the Menus show recently used commands first check box.

5. Click Close.

Excellent, thanks. Probably been there before and stared it in the face through a yucky ill haze, so totally missed it! Knew it must be simple.

So do you know how to get Win 2k and it's Program Files menu to do the same thing?

Would love to |-I but user gripes and impending migration means I have to be here, unfortunately. More medicine required X-)

You should get some rest otherwise you may start to look >:):O> and that will make you %-(, which can't be good for anyone. I suspect they must think you are their *:->* which is why you need to be in....

OK ENOUGH!

This "neat" little option is called Personalised Menus.

Personlised Menushides programs you have not used recently, and is located on the "General" tab. Default is on.

To change the settings:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar & Start Menu.

2. On the Advanced tab, click to select or clear the setting, and then click OK.

Theres a bunch of others on there as well. To be complete, this is what they mean:

Display Administrative Tools: This feature adds the Administrative Tools menu to the Programs menu. Default is on.

Display Favorites: This feature adds the Favorites menu to the Start menu. Default is off.

Display Logoff: This feature adds a logoff command to the Start menu. Default is off.

Expand Control Panel: This feature adds the contents of Control Panel under the Control Panel menu. Default is off.

Expand My Documents: This feature adds the contents of the My Documents folder under the My Documents menu. Default is off.

Expand Network and Dial-Up Networking Connections: This feature adds the contents of Network and Dial-Up Connections under the Network and Dial-Up Connections menu. Default is off.

Expand Printers: This feature add the contents of the Printers folder under the Printers menu. Default is off.

Scroll the Programs Menu: This feature changes the Programs menu to scroll the contents. Default is off.

Yeah, I'd read that before and tried it but it did nothing. Start -> Program Files still results in recently used progs and those infernal drop down arrows. I'd ideally like full expansion on this menu from the off.

Thanks for the suggestion, anyway. Do you have any more ideas up your sleeve?
