Executing Programs from Login Script

I am attempting to launch a desktop auditing application using the login script.

When I run the script it returns:

LOGIN-4.21.15-740: This utility could not execute external program M:\TIW4STD\AUDIT32.EXE.

I have tried @M:\TIW4STD\AUDIT32.EXE and #M:\TIW4STD\AUDIT32.EXE with the same result.

This app takes about 1 minute to run so the @ should be the correct. Any suggestions (or solutions) would be great!

First the obvious - I assume the M: drive is already mapped when it hits this statement.

I usually exit the login script to a batch file:
Exit "logon.bat"
since I can do things in a batch file that I cannot do neatly in a login script. Then you could run your utility in the batch file instead of the login script.

I was thinking of going that route, but you have conviced me of it.

Thanks.

meBrian,

Just a sidenote - I noticed you were using TrackIT! as we are. I once had the idea of forcing an audit of ALL PC's through use of the login script. However, I forgot to give them advance notice and when the boot sequence was delayed while running the audit, everyone got impatient and started pressing buttons all over the place. Anyway, they managed to lock up a number of computers and I was inundated with phone calls and emails that they were broken.

It reminded me of how comfortable users get with their routine and how easily a slight change in it can throw them off. Good luck, JG

Well, I have managed to get the application to run through an include file (which called the application) on the login script. I sent out a flood of emails telling people what was happening. The timing was good as we had to reboot that server and forced people off. Of course, there is always one....or two....or three...
