Can you give someone rights to execute a program if you deny them read rights? We have a batch file that needs our administrative password in it. We are going to put it in the logoff script for backups. Will it execute if we dont give them read rights??
If they don't have the Read permission then they wont have the "Traverse Folder/Execute File" permission either.
"Although the List Folder Contents and the Read & Executefolder permissions appear to have the same special permissions, these permissions are inherited differently. List Folder Contents is inherited by folders but not files and it only appears when you view folder permissions. Read & Execute is inherited by both files and folders and is always present when you view file or folder permissions."
How to set, view, change, or remove special permissions for files and folders in Windows XP
