how do I do this?
It seems that my 'Shell' or 'ShellExecute' methods don't
work when the file is on another machine.

PS.
I don't want to map a network drive

Should work OK as long as the appropriate resource is shared. This runs a prog called rabbit.exe in a folder on \\fred shared as freds c:

Shell "\\fred\freds c\rabbit.exe"
