hi all,

What is the .exe for starting 2005 Management Studio?

Thanks, John

Thanks RiverGuy.

It's not in the Start menu nor in Programs-->

All services MSSQL, RS, AS are running - maybe they didn't install the Client tools?

JohnBates,

When I click on SSMS in my Start menu and select properties, this is the link I get:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\SqlWb.exe"

So I'm guessing that's what you need to search for to see if it's installed.

aha. This server does not have th \VSSHELL folder - so I'm thinking that Visual Studio/Client tools have not been installed. (Someone else started soemthing that I will have to finish)

That's it. Thanks SQLBill

Glad to help.

Don't forget, in SQL 2008 it'll be called ssms.exe.

In both SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 you should be able to find sqlwb or ssms within the Windows Path.
