I've restored a mksysb from lpar B to lpar A by using NIM and I get the following error. AIX 5.3 ML2, sddpcm 2.1.0.1, devices.fcp.disk.ibm.mpio.rte 1.0
Has anyone seen this before?

exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program /usr/sbin/pcmsrv because of the following errors:
0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for pcmsrv because:
0509-136 Symbol sddUserInterface (number 77) is not exported from dependent module /unix.
0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the 'dump -Tv' command.

lssrc -s pcmsrv shows the subsystem as inactive.
TIA! :)

Just a thought (don't use mpio myself): are both lpars on 64 bit kernel?

do
ls -l /unix
ls -l /usr/lib/boot/unix
and see what they point to?

also
bootinfo -K
will show 32 or 64 for aix kernel width.

Other suggestion:

You might want to just reinstall SDD on lpar B

HTH,

p5wizard,

Verfied both lpars were on 64bit.
bootinfo -K on both lpars also show 64.

Have already attempted to reinstall SDD on the problem LPAR but no joy! =(

any other ideas?

After i rtfm...
'multipath subsystem device driver users guide" pp145 "pcmsrv can fail to start if the SDDPCM is installed and the disk storage system MPIO devices have not been configured yet."

Our test LPAR A didn't have any LUNs assigned. Once I assigned and did a cfgmgr, pcmsrv would start fine.
