Hi,

I uploaded a game one of my students created onto our website and for some reason it doesn't run. IT works fine on the CD but not on the web. I created a link for it and it gives me a dialog box "Open or Save" either one that I select starts to load but then stops. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to help the kid out. He really wants to see his game in lights.

Thanks..Russ

hi there.
how about a little more info...is it a flash game? was it created in director?

It sounds like the web server needs to have MIME type defined for the file type. If it's an exe, there's nothing you can do about it.... those can't be run from the web, only downloaded and installed which is why it's asking you to download it or open it. Darrell Mozingo

Hi,

This was created in some type of game software. Not sure what the kid used but it is an exe. When You download it and try to run it, it still doesn't work. It only runs from the CD.

It quite possibly needs some extra software that is on the CD to run- Director produces CD roms that way- you have to install a library of files with it on the CD to run. It sounds like the exe hasn't been saved as a stand alone file, and needs the dependant files stored on the CD to run. Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

Thanks for the help. I'll check the cd and see if anything jumps out.
