Hello. My issue is the next. I create a .TXT file. Then I rename it to .exe , and I'm since then, totally unable to delete it. I generated the example since i downloaded a program (with an installer), and... in some way... i executed it being incomplete (maybe a bad download). Then it told me that the file wasn't a win32 executable.. and.. well. I couldnt delete it, even rebooting.

So, my question is: Can't XP delete a 'fake' EXE file whatever the way it has come to??

thanks.

Sorry i forgot to say the solution, which i found after a while. Just with Sysinternals Process Explorer, i did a search for the file handle, and it obviously was taken by the Explorer.exe process, so i killed the file handle. Then the nice issue, i couldn't still delete it. Then explorer.exe while triying to delete the fake exe file, it opens again a handle with it preventing absolutely to delete it. So, i closed again the handle, and tried a little ... idea. Renaming its extension to anything else than exe. So i could delete it after.

See you ;)
