Is it possible to create an .exe in Crystal ? Say I have a crystal report file with data ( With Drill Down ), now I need to display it in a computer with no Crystal Reports installed. How will I do it ???

I will be using Crystal Reports version 9.

Hi,
Crystal no longer provides a way to compile a report into an exe file - The preferred method of sharing reports is to deploy them to web site with Crystal Enterprise installed.

Hi Turkbear,
Till which version of Crystal Reports, this was supported ?

I believe that it was in CR 8.5 or below, now the push is towards WEB based deployments, for better or worse.

There is a freebie 5 license version of CE 9 (Crystal's WEB based scheduling and deployment product) available, otheriwse you'll have to write code such as VB:

Hi,
Actually the built-in compile method was discontinued with v8 but was still available as a download from Seagate ( now Crystal) - that was when the 'push' to web deployment started...

Turk: WEB deployment started with Seagate Info, not CR 8.

It's subjective of course, but clearly because you cannot deploy an exe in CR 9, you can delineate there.

Careful with Terminal Server. It was mentioned earlier in this thread but has some severe licensing drawbacks. Everyone accessing Crystal Reports (the software, not the actual report) via a terminal server must have a seperate license for crystal reports. We have our remote users access a web server running crystal enterprise through the terminal server, then run the reports from there, which is fine.
