I distribute most of our java software on Windows platform and need some tool that generates exe files. Can somebody tells me about such a tool (and links of course)?

Regards,
Nencho

There are a number of choices:
jsmooth (jsmooth.sourceforge.net) is GPL and quite friendly

jstart32 (jstart32.sourceforge.net) is also GPL - a little less smooth looking but it also works

There are several others but they are mostly not free (at least not for commercial use - j2exe for example is free for non commercial use).

If you're going down this path, be warned that the EXEs created usually contain the entire java core libraries - it makes for very very VERY big exe file.

You might want to consider a product like Dasho that will strip out unused methods from your jar files:

Nencho, visit to see and download generator of exe files for your java applications.
It is simple to use and has a lot of features. A new version will be available soon.

Alex
