Is it possible to make a self contained exe file of a project or is the setup program the only way. I know that you can make an exe file from the file menu but this does not contain any of the run time files. This means to use the exe file on another machine you have to manually copy across the run time files

As far as I know there is no way that you can make a VB program that does not need the correct OCXs and VB run-time environment shipped with it. This is usually the arena of C++ and similar languages.
