I am looking to break up a very large filesystem (600 GB) into a five seperate policies. There are four dirs in this filesystem that I want to INCLUDE into four new policies. Now, I want to EXCLUDE these four 4 directories from the original policies. What is the best way to do this?
Info: Master = AIX 4.3.3
Client and Media Manager (same box) = Solaris 8
NBU = 4.5
Do I have to do something with the /usr/openv/netbackup/db/class dir on the master?
or the exclude_list on the client?
If I have the files included on the policy and excluded on the client - what takes precedence?

Any info/ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks so much!

What I would do ...
Create your 4 new policies each specifying the exact path that you want to back up only. The original policy should have a policy exclude added to exclude those four directories.

e.g. Original policy = policy_server
Backup selection = ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES
exclude_list.policy_server in usr/openv/netbackup contains:
dir1
dir2
dir3
dir4

new_policy1
Backup selection = dir1

etc.
