I did an upgrade on my computer from P3/1000 to P4/1700. Afterwards, the computer kept blue-screening during startup, so I did a Win2k Repair (selected partition, then repair). Everything is working fine now, with the exception that the Exchange 2000 Server services will not start. They claim one of the dependant services will not start.

I am guessing that the repair did something to Exchange settings or maybe disable some service that I dont know about that exchange is dependant on.

I installed Exchange SP1 (Didnt have it prior to hardware upgrade) -- That didnt help.

I tried doing a Exchange REINSTALL with the Exchange 2000 CD, but I get the following error message as soon as I pick Reinstall from the drop down menu:

The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration services" cannot be assigned the action "Reinstall" because: - Active Directory has not replicated all the necessary permissions for the deleted items container. Please wait until replication completes before running setup.

Anyone have any idea how I can repair my installation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!
Peter

Install support tools on the Exchange Server.
Run Netdiag then DCDIAG /s:SERVERNAME_OF_A_DC
If that is ok run domainprep again. Dan

Thanks for the reply Xybertron! DCDIAG looked pretty good, with the exception that the Exchange services show as failing in the systemlog section. Full copy of the DCDIAG output is listed below.

Can you elaborate on "run domainprep again"?

FYI.... this PC is my home computer that I play around on... its a DC and Exchange 2000 server all-in-one...

THANKS AGAIN!
Peter
