Exchanging Sprites Conditional depending on music

Hi, i'm currently creating a multimedia project using Director MX and i'm having one little problem. I have what is essentially a ticker which informs what songs is playing at the current time, my only problem is that i want add more songs that the user can select within, and thought i could use some sort of lingo in the ticker sprite along the lines of

If music playing = thank you
then display cast member(thankyou)

i know the lingo isn't correct, but i was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction with the what director keywords i would use and such. Thanks for your time.

It would be something like:

sprite(1).member = member("thankyou")
