When I attempt to open the Properties of a DL in Exchange admin the administrator hangs. Exchange services continue but are slow. If I try to have a name resolved in Outlook that has more than 1 email address in it, outlook hangs. The server is a Compaq Proliant ML350 512 MB of RAM, Raid 5, 80 users. I will attempt a reboot (1st one in about 2 months) of the server today at lunch, and post the results but I don't want to have to reboot the server all the time. Any suggestions?

The reboot did the trick. I know Exchange uses all avaiable RAM and then some (The Server was running at just over 800 MB of usage with 512 MB of ram). Does anyone out there perform scheduled reboots for this reason? I dont have a problem doing it every couple months or so but I would imagine the larger sites would not be as flexible as my place. Anyway, problem solved but would like to hear if anyone out there has had similar problems and if there is a fix other than rebooting the server.

Thanks,
Alex

What version of Exchange you are running? If it is 5.5 there are Exchagne Sp4 that solves some of the problems you are mentioning. There should be no scheduled reboots in place as long as server is performing well. Upgrade NT40 to the latest Sp as well as Exchagne server.
