It's got to be a permissions issue, but I can't see it. I am presently doing daily backups via Veritas. I can back up 5.5 using my personal account but not the ExchangeAdmin account created just for this purpose. Both accounts are members of the same groups. Any ideas?

ExchangeAdmin account can't backup

Exchange permissions are specificlly set in the Directory via Exchange Admin, it's nothing to do with the domain admin accounts or default domain admin groups. The account you want to run the backup under needs rights on the exchange IS, so add it in to the Permissions of the site and the config container just like you did to allow your account to access Exchange.
