I have a customer that has a 10 person LAN, they want a server and a exchange but I am trying to convince them to use LINUX since they do not want to spend the cash. The cost of software for a 10 person LAN with WINDOWS 2003 standard edition and Exchange 2000 is APPROX. $2,500.00.

What product can I use that will allow them the same EXCHANGE functionality with Linux and what server software??

All the computers attached would be WINDOWS XP.
Thanks

Thanks for the web site J1bber, do you know of anybody actually doing this type of interface with Exchange??

What are the customers requirements in their mail server? Do they need calendaring, public folders, and other Exchange features? If they only need basic mail functionality, any MTA (Postfix, Sendmail, qmail, etc.) and POP/IMAP daemon will work fine.

Here are a few alternatives to Exchange...

SuSE OpenExchange...

Lotus Domino...

Communigate Pro...

Novell GroupWise...

Novell Netmail...
