I can’t get my Exchange 2003 to send emails to 2 domain names. Most of emails are going out without a problem but for some reason 2 specific domain names don’t work and one of them is Hotmail accounts.

It seams that emails are leaving the server. When I look at the Queue the state for that domain name shows as Active and few minutes later they are back into the Queue and the state column shows retry.

I had the ISP setup a reverse DNS lookup on the IP to mach the Domain name but that did not make any difference.

Last week I rebooted my Exchange server and some how for a few days emails were going out without a problem but the problem is back now. Of course I rebooted my server this morning, hoping it would solve the problem again but no such luck.

If it can help, after the 3 delay nottifications, we get the following undeliverable error:

the following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'emailaddress@hotmail.com' on 1/22/2007 7:23 PM
Could not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator.
<mail.domain-name.net #4.4.7>

It has to be something stupid that I can’t see.

Thanks for your help.

The anti-virus software may cause this issue. On the exchange server, disable the email scan feature, but leave Exchange scan on (some software has these features). Or you adjust the settings and see what happens.

Right on!!! I dissabled Norton AV and emails are going out. Thank you so much
