Exchange Upgrade

Hello Everyone


I just installed exchange 2000 server standard edition.
We have not activated exchange yet as we are still using the imail server. What I would like to know is if we decide to purchase the enterprise edition of exchange do I have to remove the standard edition first or rebuild the server.
Or can I just run the setup on the enterprise CD.. would it just upgrade?

We would like to upgrade so that we can implement the front/back end topology. We would also like to create seperate mailbox stores for the different departments in our organization.

You can upgrade from Exchange Standard Edition to Enterprise. The one caveat is if the standard edition was installed from the Small Business CD. Just insert the Enterprise CD and select Reinstall from the installation options......

Thanks for the response.

Being that in Exchange Standard Edition there is only 1 mailbox store allowed. Is there a way to set a specific users mailbox to be backed up on certain days (and shedual the rest of the mailboxes to be backed up on other days). Or to specify that a users mailbox not be backed up at all. This is pretty much our delema now.
We did plan to move up to exchange enterprise to setup a front/back end topology so that we can keep the front end in our DMZ, also database size was also a concern being that users do send/recieve big attachments daily (but we are only about 60 users *are we crazy?* hehe Enterprise Edition is really expensive.
Would someone be kind enough to give me some consultation on what is the best direction to take for this?
