I have recently had to move the private and public databases of an exchange 2000 server to a new drive because suddenly the drive it was working on ran out of room. This seems to be because the log files that are generated have grown considerably.
Each day at roughly the same time (22.30) there will be around 450 log files for the same day and same time (or at least within a few minutes of each other). So there is a normal couple of log files at different times for each day and then around 450 or so log files for the same day starting at say 22.28 and ending at 22.59. Yesterday for example there are 457 log files starting at 22.52 and finishing at 23.39.
I have removed the exchange files and folders from the backup to check if this was causing the problem. I have checked for open relays and nothing apart from authenticated users are allowed to relay. There are a lot of emails in the bad mail queue (3700 when I deleted them all yesterday, now 66 today).
I would really appreciate all ideas as the new drive (80gb) is rapidly filling up!
Cheers
