have exchange 5.5 and a crap link to the states so redundancy want to get exchange to authenticate to bdc just incase the line goes down. is there a reg entry or something......

exchange should be installed on a dc anyway. Otherwise you flood the network with auth queries.

Is it not on a dc?

The exchange box is on xyz domain (also a BDC locally)
Users log onto abc domain (which we have a BDC locally)
there is a trust relationship on both domains

now when the WAN link goes down users can log onto abc domain but when trying to log into exchange they get a permissions issue. So they are not getting authenticated properly between the domains. BDC to BDC.

I'm stumped as this should in theory work?
