Hi,

I have a site with three 5.5 servers, one of which is no longer required due to migration to a new machine.
I have turned off the retired server but it remains defined in the Servers list in the Exchange Admin Console. Is it safe enough to just delete it or is there a process for removal from the site?

Regards,
Steve.

There is extensive MS documentation on the issue of removing an Exch server from a site. Generally this is easy. The big issues arise when it is either the FIRST server in a site, or the first server in an organisation. Otherwise deletion should be fine.

MS KB articles 152959 and 152960 are fairly comprehensive & should provide you with a good base.
