Hi:

I have Exchange server running on Windows 2000 server. I also have a firewall ( SMC Barricade ).

When I try to connect to this sever through internet from a diffrent location using DSL line, I am able to connect using VPN and it logs me in. However when I try to use Outlook , it says exchange server is unavilable . Also I am not able to ping the server machine from my locations?. I can still use Outlook Web Access !!!.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

This is a firewall issue. You have ports 80 and VPN open but not the right ports for Outlook. Opening them is going to be a security risk.

Do you want to do this?

Hi:

I would like to do it still. I may buy some security software like verisign later so that I am taken care with the security.

will you please let me know if you are aware which port does outlook uses so that I can open up that port. Also wehn I connect using VPN, after it is connected, my network connection at the client machine does not work, when you try to go to a web address, it says this page can not be displayed. but if I disconnect the VPN, it can connect ??!!!

Thanks
