Exchange server move

Hi,
Exchange server was installed as a PDC for domain1, only account used to
install exchange server is a part of domain1, other users that are using
Exchange server are part of domain2. Trust relationship is in place between
domain1 and domain2. The goal is to remove domain1 and Exchange server and
install it in domain2. The existing Exchange server box will be used for new
Exchange server in domain2. The new Exchange server will have the same
organization/site/server.
Are there any other options to move uses mailboxes other than exporting to
PST file and importing back to new mailboxes once the new exchange server is
in place?

Some backup software will allow you to do a brick level backup, like Arcserve. Try that or MS Backup.

My problem is that account used to install exchange services is sitting in domain1 and by breaking the trust between domain1 and domain2 there will be no chance to use the same account. This means that restoring from either online or offline backup is not a solution.

I recall a piece of software that is a "move mailbox" wizard. Not sure if it is on the Exchange CD or if it is 3rd party software.

Basically you need to move mailboxes from one ex server to another and can see both servers in exchange admin?

You could also use Exmerge. it would export all mailboxes from the first server. you could then remove the server and build it in the new site. Create all of the new mailboxes utilizing .csv file but ensuring you use the same directory names (very important). Using the Step two in Exmerge import all of the mail from the .pst files created from step one.
