I'm unable to send email outside of the company but can send internal email using outlook 2000. We have a Windows NT Server 4 with Service pack 6 on it. On top of that we are running Exchange Server 5.5 with service pack 4 on it.
I can receive outside email, but cannot send outside email.
I had been receiving a no transport provider error from the System Administrator, but after I got a few of the services reinstalled, I'm now getting a communications failure error from the Systems Administrator.
The message says:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Down towards the end of the message it states: Unable to deliver the message due to a communications error. The MTS-ID of the original message is c=US; a= ; p=specialty hose; I=NT;-SERVER-040521114120-Z-1.
For some reason I do not have DNS installed on the Server. When I go to control panel, network, services, Microsoft DNS Server is not in there, nor is it available to add in. I did get the services World Wide Web Publishing, Microsoft exchange internet mail service, directory, event service, information store, message transfer agent, system attendant all added in. I’m sure I need DNS added into the control panel, network, service. Any idea how to get it back in?
It has PC Anywhere on it and I’m using TCP/IP to connect to work on it remotely right now.
Any help or advice would be great.
Thanks so Much in advance!
