Software: Exchange Server 2003/Windows XP SP2 clients

I created two new users recently in AD which has system manager for Exchange server 2003. Once the mailbox and user is created, everything seems to be okay. I added the user to the group they need to be in and tested the mail group and group list on my computer(Power User client).

When i open outlook, and create new email; i click on the TO: to search for users. I can see all users created and the gropus they belong.

I went to another user computer and the 2 user are not in the Global list, but they are under the mailing group they have been enterd under.

Some machine show all the users and i have some computers that do not reflect the new users. I even attempted to download address book from outlook and i have no luck.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem. Let me know if you are lost.

Dont' worry about this blog. I fixed my own problem. I went to email accounts and uncheck the cache box under the Exchange server account.

That didn't "fix" the "problem". It just was a work around.

VERY common issue, discussed everywhere. The GAL is updated once per day (by default, at 5am). Outlook, in cached mode, downloads the Offline Address Book once per day. Depending on when Outlook is opened, it could take up to two days for you to see the change in Outlook.

There is an easier method (disabling cache mode is going to cause you more problems, and you've just increased the bandwidth that Outlook uses), by forcing an immediate rebuild of the GAL/OAB, then clicking Tools>Send & Receive>Download Address Book in Outlook.
