Exchange - Sequence of Mailboxes

Does anyone know what how the backup agents determines what order to back the mailboxes up in. It's not by name, or by the order they were setup. Any ideas? I'm trying to determine an easy way to tell how far along the backup is.

Normally I have seen the mailboxes get backed up in alphabetical order or reverse alphabetical. However the agent uses MAPI calls to exchange for what mailboxes are there and back up in whatever order Exchange returns.
