Hello,
I’m using SBS 2003 with Exchange. I have about 24 client computers. One client computer is not displaying new mail when it arrives. For example the Outlook can be open on the client machine, click on new mail and several items will appear instantly even though they should have been displayed hours ago. Thanks for you time.

Outlook 2003 by default does not do automatic send-and-receive. You need to go to Tools->Options->Mail Setup->Send/Receive and "Schedule an automatic Send/Receive every __ minutes". I like fast messaging so I set mine to one minute.

Why this is not enabled by default I have no idea.

I'm hosting my own e-mail using an Exchange Server with Outlook clients. What your describing sounds like a standard Outlook POP3 configuration. The option your referring to doesn't exist on Exchange client machines. Thanks for you input.

Merlin4us,

My office also hosts our own email using an SBS 2003 Exchange server and Outlook 2003 on the clients and I am positive that this option exists on the clients, but it might not be the answer to your question but it does pertain to Exchange:

I'm not an Exchange expert, and you may be right, that option could refer only to POP accounts, but this article seems to indicate it's for Exchange too. As a footnote, we do not use POP accounts either, just Exchange.

Eventually a real guru will pop in with the answer.
