We set up a new domain, upgraded our hardware a few weeks and added a new server to host exchange - the migration went smoothly expecpt for one mailbox - the user's contacts were lost/currputed. I was able to restore all but 2 weeks of the users contacts and journal notes from my backup tapes from the old domain/exchange server before I took it offline (the user is the sales manager, thus he is adding and updating contacts on a daily basis and the past two weeks are IMPORTANT). As with all the mobile clients, Outlook is setup to work offline and update itself every time the user is conntected to the exchange server - my question is there anyway to grab/use the information in the .ost file in his old profile still on the client machine to restore his mailbox, kind of like using a .pst file to import information into a mailbox?

In appreciation,
Ryan

You said the user has offline files set up? If the corrupt changes haven't been replicated to the ost, you can open outlook offline, export the contacts and journal entries to a pst, open outlook online, clear the corrupt data, and import the good ones you got from the ost.

Mark, that is problem, I already had set up the client machine on the new domain and therefore cannot log in under the old domain b/c the DC is unavialble for log in (already taken offline). I also didn't help that I informed of the missing just a few days ago when the domain was switched over 3 weeks ago and the old DC was taken offline last week, so I cannot log on using the old domain's cashed log ins which I have policy set to keep 10 cahched log ins. So the root of the problem is being able to use .ost file in the user profile 'salesmanager.old_domain' and somehow open it/import into the profile and/or mailbox of user 'salesmanager.new_domain'. If I have this .ost file and it is over 800mb is size, isn't there someway to extract and import that information if the profile it is associated with is unavailable/unable to be logged into?

Thanks,
Ryan

Do a search on Google for ost2pst. I have used it before to get back orphaned ost's and it works great.
