Can anyone help me please?

We've got an e2k server running on win2k with win98 clients running outlook 2000. Just before Christmas, our log files started going crazy, and we had nearly 500,000 bad mail entries appear in our badmail folder.

We managed to delete this, updated the antivirus checkers on our clients and put sp2 for both e2k and win2k on the server. However, this has just started again and I am stumped - despite clearing the exchange queues regularly we're getting about 15000 failed emails every 20 minutes in our queues / logs.... I can't find any reference to a virus that fits the bill and we've had to shut down our email till we can fix this which is going to be a MAJOR headache before the end of the weekend.

Any ideas GRATEFULLY received!

thanks in advance

If these bad are messages going outbound, then one or more of your workstations probably has a virus and/or worm. Try looking at one of the bad messages in the queue. There may be information within the message which might help identify the virus.

I would also think about getting something like Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition loaded on your Exchange server. I know it has saved us alot of headaches since we purchased the license.

Ask over at the exchange forum this site.
The two rules for success are:
1. Never tell them everything you know.

Thanks for the help. I have already asked on the e2k forum but no-one seems to have any real ideas unfortunately.

We've scanned for the Zoher worm and we're running latest updates of norton antivirus but we're not seeing anything.

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks,

Peter.
