We had a number of problems with our hardware and have been disconnected from the internet for the past 4 or so days. As a result emails would have been sent to us, but we have yet to recieve them. I have also tried sending e-mails from outsides accounts which have not been recieved. However, I can send e-mails out! I tried resetting the server with exchange on and that didn't help.

Any ideas? I'm hoping if we can send mail out this is quite easy to solve?

Turn on logging for SMTP and check your event logs.

Try to telnet to the mail server from a machine inside the same network: telet <mail server IP address> 25

does telnet connect to 25? if so, there's gotta be something in the logs.... if not, it could be a NAT or routing issue from your firewall or whatever you have on the perimeter of your network.

start with the telnet...

Make sure you still have the right IP address pointing to the box. Was the problem hardware your DHCP/router or your exchange box?
