Exchange not delivering to user mailboxes in SBS 2000

We have had an SBS 2000 Server happily ticking away for over a year. On Monday, i recieved a call to say that no new mail was being delivered. On checking, i found that mail was being downloaded from ISP thru our POP3 connector but the following error message is displayed in the Event Log

Event id 4043
NDR Staus Code - 600
Error Code - 00002745

It seems as though Exchange can't find the mailboxes to deliver to. I have checked all the services and rebooted the server twice with no success. I have also check MS Knowledge Base to no avail.
