Hey there,

We are moving mail from our non-custered 2003 mail server to our new clustered 2003 server running an active-passive cluster. We have kept Symantec turned on for fear that if we turn it off while migrating and turn it on after our migration the server be brought to its knees trying to scan all of the migrated mail for viruses.

Is there a way to tell Symantec to scan only new messages after a migration?

Whats the best way to do this migration? We have around 550 mailboxes, some are 5+ gigs.

You better call Symantec support regarding this question.

But in general Microsoft doesn't suggest scan Exchange database using anti-virius software. The emails are checked by anti-virius software before they hit the database. So most likely you dont' need to worry about this problem at all.
