Exchange loosing mail

I am having problems with mail being lost in exchange, out of about 10 e-mails inbound only 8 will show up. although SMTP logs show 10 hand shakes for the 10 e-mails only 8 will show up. Exchange logs only show 8 e-mails dlivered. This happens at random times with random numbers but this is just an example. No mail filters or anything running.
Anyone have any ideas??
