I just got groupwise and exchange working together. All incoming mail passes through the gw 703 gwia and is routed to my exchange users. The groupwise gwia adds a mime.822 file as an attachment to all external incoming emails. For my exchange users these emails show up with the attachment icon. It make it appear like all emails from outside have attachments in my outlook clients.

Is there a way in outlook to stop displaying mime.822 attachments as attachments? Is there a way in outlook to only show certain files as attachments, like .doc , .pdf, and .xls should show up as attachments but not mime.822's

Any help would be appreciated.

You can use outlook attachment security to block the attachment. It really sounds to me like the root cause of the problem is misconfiguration of groupwise however.

Yes, I tried this and it worked fine, except for the fact that email address formatting gets all messed up. Any email from the world to my groupwise users, all the groupwise user names get changed from smtp to userid.postoffice.domain format.

Out of interest are which Gateway are you using?

Are you on Netware 6.5 or is your GroupWise installed on Windows Server?

I was under the impression that if your using GroupWise on Netware then you only have the old groupwise API as an option?

We are using Groupwise 7 sp3 running on Netware 6.5 sp7. The gateway is the Groupwise /Exchange 7sp2 gateway. You don't need that old api anymore. Unless you want to do migrations with Quest. You can download it on Novells web site.
