Exchange error 356

The full text from the Arserve job log is:
E8604 Failed to start backup (DBNAME=dbxchg2, EC=Backup Agent Error - (356) "Try the backup later. Another backup is running on the server".

Basically the dbaxchg\Information Store successfully backs up.

I get the error above when it gets to the Mailboxes.

I've restarted the Exchange server... I've restarted the arcserve. Any ideas would be helpful

Config:
Server: WinNT 4.0 sp4
Arcserve: 6.61 (834SP1) I've run the upgrade to SP2 but the splash screen still says SP1.
Exchange: v5.5 (on a WinNT4 sp4))
Exchange arcserve agent: upgraded to sp2.

If anyone could be of any assistance or point me to other Arcserve user groups, I'd appreciate it.

First of all you should check the following key by using REGEDT32:

ComputerAssociates\ArcserveIT\DSAgent\CurrentVersion\Agent\DBaexch2

Reset the value "InBackupMode" from "1" to "0".
Stop and restart the backup RPC server svc and try the backup again.

Then make sure that the splash screen says "834SP2A", otherwise the servicepack is not fully installed. This may lead you into trouble cause your exchange agent is already updated.

IMPORTANT:
1. Do NOT upgrade to Exchange SP4 as it is not supported by CA yet.
2. Make an offline backup of your exchange server for insurance reasons.
