Hi

I have a question about Exchange server and email hosting. I am new in network administration. I have installed a Windows 2003 SBS server with the domain mydomain.local. The Exchange server was allso installed at the same time with the same domain name mydomain.local... so e-mail addresses are username@mydomain.local. I have recently bought an internet domaina mydomain.com and i want the emails to be username@mydomain.com ....
Before i install the MX for DNS server to point to my ip address i want to know how can i change my Exchange server domain name from mydomain.local to mydomain.com ? Or if that is not necesary what can i do?
I hope there is somebody who can help me.
thank

Valentin

Using Exchange System Manager, locate Recipient Polices

within the default policy you will see the e-mail addresses tab, this is where you put your new domain name, if you what to have the email appear like john.doe@company.com then enter %g.%s@company.com,
you can then set this as the primary email address if required (sounds like you do)

Once completed, update the "Recipient Update services" this will add your new email address to everyone in the domain. Give it a few minutes ad check a few users details and verify the email address is added.

Once completed, you can change you MX records
