All of a sudden (no updates, no installs, no changes) when I boot my Exchange DC (DCE) I am prompted for the logon password under my domain name. Login is successful, but I have a relication failure in the Event Viewer that states the WINS DC (DCW) is not found.
Consequently, all Exchanges services do not startup and will not manually startup. If I try to manually start up the first service I am yold it failed with no return code and that it might be a server error or an internal error. Very vague.
The DCE has internet access therefore it's on the newtwork (thus the NIC is working). However under My Network I cannot open any workstations or the DCW (I have many shared drives on all of these machines, and have previously had access to the machines and the DCW server). On the DCW I cannot access the DCE (I could previoulsy), but I can access all other workstations. All of these attempts in either direction state that the login (or somthing like that,I'm at work and this happens at home) is invalid.
I thought I would try and demote the DCE and re-promote but dcpromo fails (another vague error).
TIA for any help in how to track down the source of this problem or an alternative solution.
