I recently had to build a new box for our email filter. I upgraded it from Windows XP to Windows 2003 (per our vendor).

Incoming emails are fine. I sent one from an outside host (yahoo) and it went through just fine.

However, when I replied to my own email, it does reach exchange, I see Exchange smtp to the Email filter (via the Firewall logs), but the email doesn't go through the filter.

I have the email filter set up to relay to the Exchange server, the Ecxhange server to send email to Smarthost [IP Address] and so forth.

Is there some other trust that needs to be established between Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003???

Nothing has cchanged on the firewall either.

I would only guess that the OST file is corrupted, once offline move the email to another folder rather folder, then logon and I guess that you would see that email....

Turns out it was Windows Firewall. Once I disabled that I was able to surf to the internet (activate windows), ping the filter server, etc.

So the oops was me.

Thanks though! I'll keep the OST in mind if something like does happen again (now that I have everything talking).
