Exchange calendar quirks

I've had this really odd problem with an Exchange 2000 server that I've been dealing with lately. We just moved Exchange from an older server to this new one, which is acting as the DC and everything else.
There is a shared calendar that someone owns, but at least two other users contribute to and modify. The problem that has arisen happens with no appearant pattern. Now, when one of the people who isn't the original owner of the calendar goes to modify an existing appointment, fairly often the following error will come up:

"The changes could not be saved because you do not have permission to modify some or all of the items in this folder. Do you want to save a copy in the item's default folder?"

There is another error that pops up as well, I think, but I haven't had a chance to try and get that again. I've checked and re-checked the permissions, and everyone has the max permissions allowed. The permissions have had plenty of time to process (read: over a week) and they even display properly when you view them from the other user's computers. I thought the issues would be addressed by Exchange SP3, but the problem still exists after application. I've tried a couple of other things as well, to no avail. Anyone have any insight on the matter or know what other avenues I could pursue to find a fix?
