I am using Exmerge to backup, nightly, all mailboxes from the Exchange store. Usually, everything works correctly. However, occasionally, Exmerge will not backup to the drive specified. Instead in performs the backup and places everything in the Exmerge folder on the C: drive.

I have seen this behavior whether I am running it as scheduled event, or if I am manually running it from the command line. The worst part is since it is sporadic, I am having a difficult time troubleshooting the issue.

I am running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

You can have it create a log, and examine that to see if any lines indicate why a certain path is taken.
Of course, you would be better off using a 'real' Exchange-Aware back-up solution.

The only 'reason' I can see why some people use Exmerge is to have all seperate PST's as a back-up, but that is not really the purpose of that tool of course.
