Exchange backup, do not want VSS snapshot

I'm running a backup job (11D) for Exchange 2007 using the Exchange agent and the AOFO is NOT selected, however when I look at the job log, it shows that the AOFO is started and using a VSS snapshot.

I do NOT want a snapshot backup, because this will prevent the ability to restore to a Recovery Storage Group.

Why is this happening when the AOFO is unchecked?

You information is incorrect. Microsoft has forced all 3rd party vendors to use VSS to backup exchange 2007 information stores. You can redirect a snapshot backup with 11d and 12 of Exchange 2007 backups. This is stated in technotes and admin guide.

It will always use Snapshot (VSS) on Exchange 2007 regardless of the AOFO setting.
