We are opening a branch office and we want our branch office to be able to pop mail from our Exchange 2003 server to their Outlook client.

Is there a walk through doc out there that someone has come across that I can use or does anyone have any tips?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Why use POP? Easier approach would be to setup the remote users in cached mode.

Even if the remote office isn't directly connected or on a VPN, RPC over HTTPS could be utilised.

Thanks for the info guys.

MiniOrgan - is that anctual profile within Outlook or connecting with OWA. I'm not familiar with the process you mentioned and need a outlook profile on the desktop for some other software we use.

Hellboy - do you know if using cached mode will eat up a lot of my bandwidth over the WAN?

I think MiniOrganMorgan is correct, using HTTP of exchange is better than POP3. But one thing to take note, is that all remote systems need to have Outlook 2003 installed and running winXP with sp2

cached mode exists primarily to REDUCE bandwidth. It also allows offline access to their mailbox, better rule filtering, etc.

If the remote office has a vpn solution in place, then cached mode is the best method. If it doesn't, rpc over https is the recommended method.
